Who knew Steppenwolf was from Canada. The core members formed The Sparrows in Toronto Ontario, Canada. Later changes included changing their name to Steppenwolf and moving the band to Los Angeles, USA. Lead vocalist John Kay was born in Germany moving to North America as a teenager.
Steppenwolf invented the term "heavy metal" in it's song Born To Be Wild. Other songs of note are Magic Carpet Ride, and The Pusher.
